Procurement and market research
Some prices are not in any list — they have to be found. Reaching suppliers, getting quotations and making them comparable is a job in its own right.
Scope
- Supplier research — finding out who can supply the item.
- Collecting quotations — obtaining and chasing quotations by phone and correspondence.
- Comparison — making quotations comparable against the same technical description.
- Pro-forma — three pro-forma invoices for special items in public tenders; the special item annex of an abnormally low tender explanation comes from here.
- Tying to the analysis — entering the price into the item analysis and the record.
Why a separate job
The effort here is in the search, not the calculation. Pricing one item means reaching dozens of suppliers, allowing for most of them not replying, and fitting the quotations to the same technical description. Quantities are finished at the desk; procurement is finished on the phone.
Where we have done it
Supplier research and pro-forma-backed pricing for smart traffic and camera systems in the Şırnak, Nizip, Kastamonu and Karasu city surveillance (KGYS) installations.
What is different
Every quotation collected is stored with who gave it and when. When the same item comes up on another job it is not searched from scratch — the record is opened and the price period is visible.
